I'm good! I'm good, how are you?
I'm good, what are your plans for today?
Well right now I'm at rehearsal and I'll probably just hang around for the rest of the weekend. I'm doing some recording tomorrow.
Oh really? For what?
Well I'm a singer, so..
Oh really! That's so cool, are you going to put out an album?
Well right now I'm looking to get a record contarct and I'm writing some songs and I'm learning a bunch of different instruments and trying to make it out there and I'm trying to make it so people can hear what I have to say!
Have you always wanted to be an actress and a singer?
Well I started acting when I was three because my mom put me in it and I guess I was pretty good at it, so but yeah I've always loved to do it and it's so cool to be doing it at this age but I think I'll probably always be doing it but I'm REALLY working on doing the singer thing right now it's what I'm working on mostly and of cours ei have the show, and I think that'll be going for a long time we're doing pretty good.
Yeah really! How do you feel about the success of it? I mean you really are doing great.
Well I mean whenever you go in to do a pilot of a show you always hope and pray for the best and we've got a GREAT cast and of course we've got Reba, and she's doing really great and she's actually really liking the acting a lot and she's just a really great lady and of course we've got great writers. I mean I was cnfident and everything but WOW, you know? I didn't know it would be going so much and so great.
Yeah what's it like working with Reba?
She is a really cool lady and she's just so great and so down-to-earth and you know, she appreciates all the fans that she has and so many of them come to the show and the taping and she really embraces the whole thing and it's so great to see, you know, a celebrity who is SO down-to-earth.
So you all get along?
Oh yeah, it's like another family it's really cool we're all really close.
Can you relate to your character?
Definitely. She's really intelligent and she's not really insecure but you know I think she doesn't really know what she wants to do. She's at that typical age where she's fighting with her mom, and she's actually getting closer with Barbra-Jean and I think she's really smart and not really into the shallow things that her sister is into and I think I can relate to that. She's also of course smart-alec a little bit.
So who are your idols?
You know just recently Elijah Wood, for male actors I mean he is just amazing and.. I'm a HUGE 'Lord of the Rings' fan. Yeah and I mean he's just such an amazing actor and even as like a kid he is just so natural and subtle and I really admire that. You know, I don't know... females... I'd have to say Reba because she's doing so great as an actor you know because I mean she's been singing all her life and it's her first real acting thing and she's carrying the show all by herself and you have to admire her for that.
Are you into Harry Potter too?
Yes!! I LOVE the books and I'm actually trying to get my brother into them. He's older than me and he liked the movies but I'm like "Come on you have to read the books they're even BETTERRR," so I'm working on that. Me and my brother we're just total geeks we're into the whole anime thing and everything and we're just geeks together all the time.
What do you watch on TV?
You know, this might sound weird but I don't watch a lot of TV! I mean I watch my own show, maybe that sounds kind of vain, but I mean you know... But you know I like to watch VH1 and stuff because I love music and I just don't know I'm more of a reader than a watcher. I've always loved to read. I love all kinds of books, I mostly like a lot of fantasy and I mean I love Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and I've also actually been getting into western and stuff and it's awesome and I'm hooked on that now.
So how about favorite movies? Obviously Lord of the Rings...
YES! Definitely "Lord of the Rings" the acting was SO good and I love that kind of stuff. I'm always like, "I wish that was real," and you know there's a lot of cute guys in it. Hahaha.
Would you ever want to broaden your acting career by directing or producing maybe?
Oh gosh yes I would LOVE to direct. I think once you start out as an actor, I've been doing it for like twelve years, you start to vision what you want to do and what you want other people to do so I'd love to make what I'm thinking happen.
Do you get to input on the show?
Oh yeah definitely we can suggest things to the writers and the producers and they're really open to what we have to say, and of course Reba is an executive producer so we can talk to her, and it's really cool they're really open to what we have to say.
So you sing, what kind of music do you listen to?
Well it's like the reading I like all kinds of music. I love a lot of old classic rock like Led Zeppelin, um, Heart, Metallica are like my favorite band ever and Stevie Nicks, I love her so much and I love everything from heavy medal to just everything I love celtic music like flutes and stuff like that.
Do you ever get star-struct?
You know I try to stay cool but sometimes it's really tough because you know the person can be so amazing you know it I'm just like, "Wow.." but um I met Tom Welling and people like that when I went to a WB party and he was really nice and it was really funny because actually my two friends were with me and they were like, "Omg omg should we say hi?" And I'm like, "Oh come ON." and I just walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around and I'm all, "My friend is afraid to say hi," and he's like, "Oh are you the brave one?" and I'm like, "Yeah that's me," but yeah he's really nice and he was laughing because they were all embarrassed but it was so fun.
If you could star in a feature film with any three actors who would they be?
Ummm oh gosh... one would have to be Christopher Lloyd, I think he is so brilliant and he's just like, he can do all kinds of stuff. And.. maybe Angelina Jolie. I think she'd be cool to have in a movie because she's like the "tough chick" and yeah.... probably Elijah Wood!!
Where did you grow up?
Well I was born in Riverside, in California and we moved up here when I was about... 7 and we've lived here ever since. I love to travel and I'd love to see the world though.
What was your first acting experience like that you remember? Because I wouldn't expect you to remember if you were only 2...
Actually you know what, I do remember! It was a voice-over for Smokey the Bear and I played a squirrel. Very dignified. You know, I don't talk about it much... hahaha. I actually do remember it going into this building, and there was this lady like saying the lines and I would have to do them different ways, having a squeaky voice and everything.
How was working on "A Ring of Endless Light"?
It was REALLY cool. We got to go to Australia to shoot it and we were there for about a month. And I got to learn to surf there, and I got a really awesome surfboard, haha, and I love to do it, it's so much fun. I met a lot of cool people like Mischa Barton and Jared- who is on Gilmore Girls, and I see him at WB parties too! He's also very cute, by the way, haha. And it was just a really cool thing and it was funny because I was playing this kind of nerdy girl who loves science and stuff, which is cool because I love science too. She's really into astronomy which is awesome.
Wow how was all of Australia?
Oh, my gosh it's just so beautiful. And the people there are SO nice. They're so polite and it's such a great place to be. I'd love to go back. To surf too.
Are you working on any other projects aside from Reba right now?
Well, like I said I'm working on my singing. And recording. And I'm going to Nashiville for a week where I'll write some stuff and be singing too and hopefully there will be some peope there who will give me a record deal haha.
What's your style for singing?
It's like.. it's pretty rock.
So do you pan to go to college?
Yes, definitely. I want to get a good education. I might even go to law school, I've always wanted to be a lawyer and I think I'd be good at it. Or maybe even a psychologist. I'm working really hard at my acting and my singing but I mean I have a lot of things I'd like to have to fall back on.
